Benidorm is having a summer of public works. On one side, the TRAM track-doubling and tramway conversion between La Vila Joiosa Hospital and Benidorm is moving forward with a €5.6 million investment: three new signal-controlled crossings, a dedicated emergency-vehicle access and new green areas that will better integrate the line into the urban fabric. The works, started in June, are due to finish in early 2027 and will improve the daily connection between La Vila, the regional hospital and Benidorm.
On the other, the Valencian regional government has announced Benidorm’s largest public housing development in a decade: 91 affordable rental homes in a 20-storey tower on Avenida Guatemala, next to Poniente Beach, on a plot provided by the Town Hall. The budget exceeds €12 million — €4 million from EU Next Generation funds — with 1- to 3-bedroom apartments of 50–80 m², all with parking and storage. A licence for another 117 protected homes, also in Poniente, adds to the push.
Why does this matter to a homeowner? Because public investment is fuel for an area’s value: better transport, more services and more year-round residents. Poniente has spent years evolving from a seasonal spot into a first-rate residential neighbourhood — and these two projects accelerate that change.
